LadyDot Review: DJ Mibor – Mad Swing

The perfect balance between “electro” and “swing” in Electro Swing. DJ Mibor – “Mad Swing”

I’ve noticed that on electro swing fan groups and in comments posted under YouTube videos, many people suggest that they want “more swing in electro swing”. Or, conversely, “more electro in electro swing”. Of course, I understand that as many people as there are different opinions. I myself admit that I don’t like all the songs. So why are my reviews usually positive? Because I want to show what I think is the most noteworthy in electro swing – but it is up to you to decide whether the song will end up in your playlist. Today I will tell you a little bit about a new track by DJ Mibor – “Mad Swing”.

Why did I start with a comment about too little or too much influence of one particular music genre? Because electro swing has been evolving for some time and more and more artists are experimenting. But DJ Mibor is in my opinion a perfect example that you can find the perfect balance between “electro” and “swing”. And we can hear it not only in “Mad Swing”, but also in the excellent “Topswing” or “Dance into My Dreams”, sung by the fantastic singer Tallulah Goodtimes.

Coming back to “Mad Swing”… Does this song remind you a bit of Parov Stelar’s early work? So I’m sure that if you’re a fan of his music, you’ll also like DJ Mibor’s tracks. This song starts off with a strong, energetic club beat, which soon gives way to fantastic elements typical of swing: oldschool samples and an expressive brass section, perfectly mixed with house sounds. This is a typical club track as it is quite long – 4 minutes. For me, 3 minutes would be enough, but this is just my opinion. :)

“Mad Swing” is a great balance between electronic music and old swing. Because I have to admit that DJ Mibor makes really excellent vintage mixes!

Anna (LadyDot) was born in ’94, but always felt she came from the Golden Twenties. “Polka” in Polish means “girl from Poland”, so she’s “Polka in polka dots”. She loves vintage style and spontaneous travels around Europe. But her greatest love (apart from her husband) is of course music, especially Electro Swing.

On her own Blog www.jawizeruk.pl she writes about various music genres. She is a copywriter, so writing is her strong point. Anna likes singing (not only in the shower!) and cooking (especially Italian and Hungarian cuisine).
